Grieving is a natural process, but not necessarily an easy one. Dealing with the loss of loved ones, illnesses, and other life challenges, can adversely affect your mood and your ability to function.  This workshop explores journaling and other forms of writing as cathartic and creative ways of getting back on track and feeling better!

                                            ***

Workshop facilitated by Journalist and Author Linda Jones .

Jones is creator of the recently-released:

"It's Only Temporary . . .  A Journal for Surviving Loved Ones,"  a self-guided journal that encourages writing as therapy through grief.
She has coaches individuals who desire to write through their grief process and has assisted families in writing obituaries and eulogies .
A veteran journalist and former feature writer for the Dallas Morning News,  Jones received the Vivian Castleberry Award from the Association for Women Journalists for "Letters to Dorian," a moving essay about letters she continues to write to her son who was stillborn.

One of my clients was suffering from prolonged and complicated grief issues following the loss of her daughter. When I saw the article in the paper about the writing workshop for grief along with the very approachable picture of the facilitator, I called my client and asked if she would like to attend.  We sponsored her tuition and she had a wonderful day.  The writing, the camaraderie with other participants, and the attention to her emotions were all clinically beneficial for her and have had ongoing positive effects.  I look forward to having the opportunity to sponsor more patients in this way.
